Argentinian energy company YPF has selected software suite developed by Emerson for seismic data interpretation and visualization.
Under a multi-year agreement, YPF will deploy Emerson’s exploration and production (E&P) software for subsurface data.
The agreement will result in Emerson replacing other interpretation solutions at YPF.
Emerson’s multi-survey seismic interpretation and visualization suite will be its first E&P software solution to be integrated into the YPF portfolio.
The software suite will provide the oil and gas company will a holistic subsurface view of its reservoirs and exploration areas.
Emerson’s software is expected to lead a collaborative and integrated seismic interpretation workflow for faster cycle-times.
YPF will also use Emerson software for processing and imaging
YPF expects Emerson’s seismic interpretation solution to become a key contributor to its drilling success.
Currently, the company produces almost 50% of the oil and 30% of the natural gas in Argentina.
YPF produces from more than 100 areas in Argentina’s five producing basins that include Austral, Golfo San Jorge, Neuquina, Cuyana and Noroeste.
As part of the agreement, YPF will also gain access to Emerson software solutions for processing and imaging, modeling and petrophysics.
YPF chief geophysicist Teresa Santana said: “After an intensive technical and economical evaluation, we concluded that Emerson’s applications provide an interpretation platform that enables project integration, seismic interpreters collaboration and provides easy access to the corporate database while accommodating multiple users.
“This allows us to maximize the usage of data, reduce the seismic interpretation cycle-time to reach most accurate results in an integrated and collaborative way.”
